Virgin Blog Diary #46

Geschrieben Di, 4. Nov. 2008 11:04 von Rea Garvey in Reamonn

Is this the end my friend.

I’ve noticed in the last while that it is becoming more and more difficult to write blogs, I guess with the album out next week I feel like the journey is coming to an end just as I feel this Virgin Blog Diary is coming to an end. I feel like I am coming around the bend and into the home straight.

Writing this series of Blogs has been a great triumph for me I have learned that wordsare the melody of thoughts and with melody the song starts to make more sensethan before.

I have built a house of cards, which I feel I am close to knocking down because in the end every deck has only so many cards.

I never thought of myself as a writer but I have learned that it is a great wayto clear the clogged pipes of reason and thought. Blogging is something Iavoided at first as a chore and eventually found myself not being able to get away from my laptop wanting to channel more and more thoughts into the mirror like screen that seemed to eat my questions and give me the answers I was looking for. Once on a formula one race car circuit I remember taking a drivein a taxi car that leads the drivers out and as we went around the circuit I noticed at one curve the audience was huge in comparison to the straights so I asked the driver why it was like that, he explained that the most accidents occur in that curve and the people come to watch the crashes. I thought this was the ultimate mortal zoo, which we had created it was like taking a deckchair to a war-zone to watch the casualties! I realised after thinking about this crazy situation that no matter what life style you chose there is always a dangerous curve and there will always be people queuing up to watch you crash. This journey is nearly over and I have the feeling that I made it around that curve by being able to put my thoughts into words and resolve my conflicts.

I hope that when this album comes out that I will find a new Blog diary which stimulates me enough to write again but right now I think I will hang up my writing boots and start in to the home straight. I will write a blog for the release and the week that follows so that I can breath out this great experience but the casual voyeur comments that normally fill my pen are reducing themselves to tiredness from talking in interviews, trying to sit at a computer and analyse my view of the world in that moment has become a chore which it should never be. I watched the Doors movie again on a trip and realised that Jim Morrison died without a friend in reach and I thought that was sad for someone loved by so many. When they heard he was dead the band sent their head roadie to France to check to see if the story was true as there had been rumours of he’s death before that were unsubstantiated. Let’s think of this blog as a forerunner to the real thing!

Is this the end my friend?
